Sydney Ferries

Not too many ferries can boast they are tourist destinations in their own right, but Sydney ferries are the exception. With Sydney Harbour as their backdrop, the routes that these ferries travel are some of the most striking in the world.

Sydney ferry timetables start at 6am and run through until midnight, with sightseeing ferries operating for shorter hours throughout the day and evening.

All ferries depart from Circular Quay in the CBD where you'll find clearly laid out information boards detail routes and timetables to over 37 wharves. The services are operated by a variety of state owned and private companies which provide excellent services to and from the historic, river-side city of Parramatta, to Manly, Darling Harbour, the Casino, the Australian Prime Minister's residence - Kirribilli, McMahons Point, Milsons Point, Lavender Bay and Watson's Bay.

If getting to your destination fast, or if racing across water gives you a thrill, enjoy the sights of Sydney Harbour by water taxi. There are plenty of water taxis available, which operate on regular timetables.

Single trip tickets are available, as well as tourist, pensioner and concession tickets. There are also pre-paid options including Day Tripper and Zoo Pass - tailored specifically for travellers to the Taronga Park Zoo. These passes enable travellers to jump from ferry to bus and back again. Services such as SydneyPass also include train travel.
